The School Band was formed in 1963 and over its 10 year existence it became highly accomplished under the direction of Music Master Peter Woodward. The Band made four LPs and performed to many audiences at live concerts and even broadcast on BBC television. The Band's story is probably best told by browsing through the 200 images in The Woodward Archive which was very kindly put together by Graham Mitchell (1962 - 1969).
"It has been my great pleasure to scan and make available for the CVTHS website the archive material kindly loaned to us by Peter Woodward in the form of four albums."
"Explanatory notes have been added by me where possible and in some instances a few interesting visual effects can be seen. This is entirely due to the scanning of ‘glued in’ original material through the transparent sleeves of the albums that were presented to Peter when he left Cray Valley in 1973. In addition to the archive and my notes the editions of 'The Rook', which can be viewed on this site, also provide fascinating accounts of our musical heritage at Cray Valley."
"I hope you will enjoy this nostalgic trip back to the many days from 1963 to 1973 when Cray Valley Technical High School’s musical achievements were under the direction of Mr Peter Woodward."
