This is a transcript of the report in the Kentish Times:
Two local boys appeared on "All Your Own" a BBC television programme abou enterprising young people on Sunday. They were John Woodhouse of Copperkins, World's End Lane, Chelsfield and his friend John Hinckley of 89 Northwood Avenue Orpington who converted a small car into a giant-sized go go-kart.
Last summer after buying a pre-war car for £5, the boys, both aged 12, stripped off the bodywork, realigned the brakes and rewired the electrical system. They built a wooden platform onto the car chassis, and added two seats, lowered the steering column and repainted the machine.
Now, although it is not quite roadworthy it certainly goes, as one Kentish Times reporter who was given a hair-raising ride will testify. The boys drive the machine in the large garden and woods behind the Woodhouse home.
